Missed it by that much!

We came, we raced and we...came second by half-a-nose in a photo finish at the Innamincka Cup.

That's our jockey Timmy Norton in the green silks riding Gramps on the outside, pipped at the post by He's Archie ridden by veteran Port Augusta jockey Tereasa Hawkins.

Great ride Timmy.

A horse called Gramps

Twenty-two mates, a horse called Gramps, a 1,200 kilometre journey and a dream.

That's pretty much the backstory to a campaign by me and 21 of my mates to win this weekend's Innamincka Cup.

We've bought a horse for $1,000, borrowed a horse float, and are now towing it 1,200kms from Adelaide to Innamincka for one of outback South Australia's great picnic race meetings.

It'll take us three days to get there and when we do our mate Timmy Norton (pictured above with Gramps), a former jockey, will don the silks for the first time in eight years and try to ride home a winner.
